Photos taken by Ester Svensson and her colleagues during her one year stay in Afghanistan and involvement with the Turquoise Mountain Foundation.
The aim of the Foundation is to provide support to traditional craftsmen and women as well as schools in order to keep ancient ceramic technical knowledge and skills from being lost. Also to provide support for the restoration of historic sites.
Ester Svensson is a 4th year honours student in ceramics at the Glasgow School of Art ceramics department. Her interests lie in re-discovering ancient ceramic techniques that have been forgotten. Click here to view Ester Svensson's work.
Ester took a year from her university studies to live and work with potters in Afghanistan. Below you will find her amazing photos. She visited restoration workshops, historical sites and also a ceramics school.
