Week 8 - new photos

This week has been a very intensive week for me, so I only really managed one day in the studio. I’ve added new images mainly documenting my bisque firing, click here to see those.
Monday, Tuesday and Thursday I spent all day at the Glasgow School of Art. This was the second week of the summer Residential School for some of the part-time Distance BA (Hons) students.
I took the opportunity to meet with Bill Brown and Archie McCall and also catch up with visiting artists Trudy Golley and Paul Leathers and attend their slide lectures.
There was also a fascinating slide lecture by Ester, a 4th year full time BA student who had just returned from Afghanistan, where she spent almost a whole year working in potteries as part of project “Turquoise Mountain”, which aims to restore historic sites and preserve local craft knowledge.
I also met Wendy Kershaw who is the technician in Ceramics and attended the private view for the “Nine On Line” exhibition at the Atrium Gallery. Nine On Line is an exhibition of the work of nine students in the part-time Distance BA (Hons) course. It’s based around the concept of the line, something which has many varied meanings for them, considering particularly that being online is their main method of contact with each other and with their tutors during their degrees.
I’ve made a new Exhibitions album, where I’ve uploaded images from the Private View, or Exhibition Opening night for that show. If anyone has images from that event they would like to add, I’d be most happy to include them. You’ll find my contact details on my about me page.
There are also loads more images from the Ceramics Department at the Glasgow School of Art - although still not a complete set. Click here to see those.
I also attended an all-day H&C studio based critical writing workshop on Monday with Ranjana Thapalyal, on Tuesday I attended a Ceramics Through History lecture with Nicholas Oddy and on Thursday two lectures on Research Methodologies, one by Helen McCormack and the second by Ranjana.
The Historical and Critical Studies lectures are extremely interesting and informative but also very intensive. I’m incredibly grateful to Ranjana for letting me sit in on them.
I also really loved meeting all the distance students, who come from all corners of the globe and have fascinating varied styles and backgrounds.

I couldn’t understand some parts of this article Week 8 - new photos, but I guess I just need to check some more resources regarding this, because it sounds interesting.
